For your convenience and to further our professional relationship with our patients, we practice all fields within general dentistry. We will schedule everything from your routine check-ups, cleanings and fillings to extractions, crowns and bridges. Our practice in general dentistry is centered evidence-based dentistry. EBD combines three domains — the best available scientific evidence, a dentist’s clinical skill and judgment, and each individual patient’s needs and preferences. If we think about those domains as three circles, then successful EBD is where all three circles overlap. It’s achieved only when all three domains are given due consideration in individual patient care.

EBD requires the judicious integration of systematic assessments of clinically relevant science relating to the patient’s oral and medical condition and history with the dentist’s clinical expertise and with the patient’s treatment needs and preferences. The first domain, evidence, informs dentists and patients, but never mandates a specific course of treatment.

By saying “relating to the patient’s oral and medical condition and history”, this definition takes a patient-centered approach to treatment decisions. It is important to understand that EBD is an approach to practice, an approach to making clinical decisions, and is just one component used to arrive at the best treatment decision. EBD is about providing personalized dental care based on the most current scientific knowledge.
